There’s an app for everything, right? That goes for your car as well. And while we certainly don’t condone using your phone while you drive, there are helpful apps you can use while you’re stopped, or have a trusted co-pilot to handle the phone while you’re driving. We’ve gathered some must-have apps to install before your next trip.
1. Gas Buddy
This super useful app helps you find the cheapest gas prices wherever you are. That can be much-needed on long road trips with lots of pit stops.
Gas Buddy also has a program where you can purchase gas through their app and save money because of it. No matter how you use the app, it is a must-download. Pair the app with some other gas-saving tips, and you’ll be a money-saving guru.
2. Do Not Disturb While Driving
This iPhone setting isn’t so much an app, but a setting that is wise to set whenever you’re on the road. Your calls and notifications will be silenced while it’s activated. It can automatically send a text to anyone who tries to contact you and will let them know you’re on the road and will respond when you can. Fewer distractions on the road = safer driving.
Driving Detective is a similar app for our Android fans out there.
3. Find My Car
Never wander aimlessly through the streets trying to find your car again! This app can uses GPS to help you remember exactly where you left your car. It can be a lifesaver for our absent-minded friends, or those always on the run with more important things to remember.
Waze is one app you’ll definitely need your co-pilot to be in charge of. The app helps you find the best route to your destination by using intel from other cars currently out on the road. It can tell you about car accidents, backed up traffic, and more.
Have a hybrid car? We haven’t forgotten about you! Plugshare can help you find electric car charging stations wherever you are. You may want to map out your route before you hit the road for a long trip and mark down where you plan to stop. A little pre-planning never hurt anyone!
There’s an app for that
We’re all for living in the moment and putting phones down more often, but when you’re on the road, these apps can really come in handy and make your life much easier. Download them before your next road trip, and it’ll be smooth sailing for you.
