Do you live for the weekends when you can hit the road to your favorite camping spot? Is your happy place the middle of a dense forest with a campfire and your family or close friends around you?
If this sounds like you, we hope you have the car to back up your love of camping. Don’t worry if you happen to be in the market for one though. We’ve got you covered because we’ve gathered some of the best vehicles to support your summer camping adventures.
1. Honda Ridgeline
This is one of the more comfortable crossovers out there that will have you ready for your camping trip at a moment’s notice. It has a small waterproof space in the trunk that can act as a cooler for your camping snacks and drinks. This crossover’s rear gate can swing open from the side or open up and down like a traditional tailgate, making it easy to take full advantage of the truck bed, no matter what gear you need for your summer camping. As if the rear gate wasn’t cool enough, Honda has even released a tent to make this option a no-brainer for the outdoor lovers.
2. Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro
This truck is made for the outdoor enthusiast. It drives great on backcountry roads and will hold up for even the most remote camping spot. Possibly the best feature is “crawl control,” which is basically cruise-control for off-roading. Your trip to your weekend hideaway just got a whole lot easier, not to mention smoother.
3. Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk
The Grand Cherokee recently got a body style upgrade. This new jeep is meant for the rough and tough trips and even includes an armored underside. This means you no longer have to worry about those random rocks popping up or some rogue tree branches scratching the bottom. As a bonus, new Cherokees also come fitted with Good-Year All Terrain tires. These come out of the factory ready for your next adventure!
4. Honda Odyssey
For those of you taking the road more traveled, you could look into the Odyssey van. This will be a great option if you are on paved roads but needing to pack a lot of gear for your family and friends. A large amount of space in the trunk and backseat will leave you wanting for nothing while camping. The back seats fold down into the trunk meaning you can even create a flat space for a bed. Who’s ready to go glamping?
5. Subaru Outback
Subaru is well-known by outdoor aficionados. Outside Online even claims it is the “Ultimate Adventuremobile for City Dwellers.” The biggest perk of the Outback is that it is actually a 4-wheel drive car. Many others provide this feature but not to the same extent. The outback is long and wide, meaning it has a lot more extra space than other similar sized cars. Now you don’t have to leave that extra blanket at home or skimp on your road trip snacks for your next trip.
6. Ford Expedition
The Expedition is one of the bigger options on this list. For those of you planning to tow a camping trailer, this would be the SUV for you. Unlike many other options, this SUV can also fit eight people rather comfortably without giving up on a decent amount of cargo space. More people and more cargo space? Its a win-win for the avid campers out there.
