If you read our post on car-cleaning tips, your car should be squeaky clean by now. But because sometimes it’s hard to make a good thing last, we thought we could share a few tricks to KEEP your car clean.
1. Keep a trash bag in your car
Instead of trash collecting on the floor or in your side compartments, keep it off your car’s surfaces by throwing it into a reusable trash bag. Plus, it’s all in one place so you can just grab it and pitch it.
2. Try not to eat in your car
We know it takes some serious self-control to not dig into that double cheeseburger when it’s sitting in all its glory right next to you, but play it safe (and clean) and wait until you get to a table. It’ll minimize trash, crumbs and a ketchup stain on your seatbelt.
3. Knock off your shoes before you get in
In the winter time there’s no getting around the salt, slush and snow. But by simply knocking off your shoes, you can prevent a lot of that dirty stuff from entering your car. It’ll also keep your shoes from sliding around on the pedals.
4. Set a clean up time
Whether it’s doing a quick clean up every time you get gas or setting aside 10 minutes every Saturday to clean your car, scheduling a specific time not only keeps you accountable, but it also prevents a big mess from happening. Small messes are less overwhelming and take less time to clean.
5. Every time you leave your car, take something out
Every time you get home, take your empty cups, trash, ping-pong paddles, snorkels and all other random objects out of your ride. This prevents a big mess from building up and any awkward questions about your snorkel.
6. Use cup holder liners
Cup holders can be tedious to clean. So, to save some time, use removable silicone liners or coasters that you can take out, dump, rinse and pop back in. Check out these cool Chicago Cubs and White Sox car coasters!
7. Drink from a travel mug
Travel mugs not only eliminate trash, they also save you money. Fill up at home or get in on drive thru and gas station refill discounts. That’s a win-win!
8. Use a plastic gum container for loose change
Turn your plastic gum container into a
change container. This takes the loose out of loose change. Plus, you’ll always
have meter money ready to go!
