Turn off the radio, shut out the noise and turn your commute into positive personal growth time. And whatever your personal needs are, we think drive time can be great you time.

Let’s get the positive vibes going.

Set goals

Goals give you a vision for the future and focus for the moment. They give you a clear plan, allow you to measure your progress and keep you motivated. From education to attitude, goals can be anything you want them to be, just make sure they’re S.M.A.R.T. See what we did there?

S: Specific
M: Measurable and meaningful
A: Attainable
R: Rewarding
T: Time-bound

Example Goal: I will increase my muscular strength and endurance by performing a variety of weight training exercises. I will record my progress and administer fitness tests provided by my gym once a month. I will reach this goal by weight training three days a week. I will adjust my weight, reps and sets as I progress in my program. I will achieve by 4/15/17.

Use your drive time to think about specific goals you’d like to achieve. Obviously we don’t want you to write them down while you’re driving, but we think this alone time is the perfect time to think about the road ahead.

Positive self-talk

It’s time to start paying attention to how we talk to ourselves and use that little voice inside your head for good. Positive self-talk is a great way to boost your confidence, raise self-esteem and feel more in control of your life. Start simple by sayings five things you like about yourself on your morning commute.

Examples:

Man, my hair looks awesome today!
I left on time, props to me.
I’m proud of the work I’m presenting today.
I can handle today. Let’s do this!
I make people laugh!

Practice gratitude

Did you know practicing gratitude has been scientifically proven to improve your quality of life? Practicing regularly can boost your mood, improve your sleep, strengthen your immune system and allow you to experience more positive emotions. Need we say more?

Use your commute to think about all the things you’re grateful for and express them out loud. Try saying 10 daily. Also, remember to be specific and dig a little deeper. For example, instead of saying, “ I am grateful for my family, “ say “I’m grateful for my sister and her awesome celeb impersonations that always crack me up.”
