Valentine’s Day is the time to indulge in your favorite treats, from sweets to quality time. We asked our team what their favorite treats are and wanted to share with you!
Chocolate-Covered Strawberries
Steven C. -- Probably cliché but, chocolate-covered strawberries are the best Valentine’s treats. Chocolate is my kryptonite, but the strawberry makes me feel a little less guilty... until I eat the whole box.
Gabi G. -- Chocolate-covered strawberries from our local candy shop win for my favorite Valentine’s Day treat without a doubt! Honestly, I'm a big fan of any fruit covered in chocolate, but these strawberries never disappoint. They explode in your mouth and truly add the sweetness you crave on Valentine’s Day.
Sara S. -- Hands down my favorite Valentine's Day treat is chocolate-covered strawberries from the local candy store in Columbia, MO! Everyone makes them, but this place makes them so much better. They are juicy, almost with a bubbly quality to them, and the chocolate is much higher quality than anywhere else. For days before and after Valentine's Day there is a line around the building, but it's so worth the wait!
Ryan W. -- My favorite Valentine's Day tradition is to go to our local candy store and get two boxes of chocolate-covered strawberries for my wife. I have been married ten years now and have never gone a year without getting them for her.
Well, Steven, turns out it is cliché, but our favorite romantic comedy endings are cliché, and we DEFINITELY like those!
Sweet Treats
Makenzie C. -- Ohhhh, a good ol’ fashion box of chocolates. It’s like a surprise within a surprise – as the great Forrest Gump said, “you never know what you’re gonna get” AND who can say no to chocolate? Not me!
Marc D. -- Homemade sugar cookies with messages similar to the sweetheart candy are my Valentine’s Day pick. I love that they are homemade, and the personally selected message is a special touch. The time spent making the cookies is (usually) a fun family event!
Madeline K. -- Boxes of assorted chocolates have my heart. There’s a certain thrill to biting into a random chocolate without any clue of what’s inside! It’s my favorite game trying to guess which one I am getting. Low success rate so far but hey, I’m willing to keep trying!
Special Valentine’s Meal
Teal S. -- My favorite Valentine’s Day treat is when my girlfriend and I cook a “fancy” meal together. Quality time and amazing food just can’t be beat! Since this year is a little different, we’re mixing it up and ordering pick-up to support a local favorite. Plus, you know we’ll finish our meal with chocolate-covered strawberries!
Alex N.-- My favorite Valentine’s Day treat would have to be the three-course dinner served at Cherry Street Cellar in Columbia, MO. For the past few years, my girlfriend and I have made our way over to the restaurant to enjoy the special meal they plan for the night. Last year they had their porterhouse steak, which I still dream about. The first course and dessert never disappoint either!
Paige W. -- The go-to meal in our house on Valentine’s Day is anything Italian. From lasagna to spaghetti and meatballs, we use our family recipes and enjoy whipping up our culinary delights together! To top off an already mouthwatering meal, we always have cheesecake for dessert. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it!
Fresh Flowers
Lydia S. -- I always enjoy a fresh bouquet of spring flowers! They brighten our home and everyone’s mood, which we need when February is dreary and gray. The flowers are so happy and make me smile!
Erin T. -- My husband chose to surprise me one year by hand delivering flowers and a Turtle Mocha coffee. He combined all of my favorite things into one extra special treat! Since that first year was such a success, he has made this a mini tradition!
