Understanding Say’s Roadside Assistance

Have you ever experienced that moment of panic after hearing ka-clunk, ka-clunk, ka-clunk as your car slows to a roll? If so, you know it probably means you are out of gas and need help. Don’t worry, we’ve all been there…when you think that last quarter of a tank will get you farther than it actually does.

At Say, we don’t want a situation like this to ruin a perfectly good day. That’s why we include complimentary Roadside Assistance in every policy.

What’s covered under Roadside Assistance?

  • A dead battery
  • A tow to a mechanic
  • Being locked out
  • A flat tire
  • An overheated engine

This even includes the delivery of fuel, oil, or water if that causes a breakdown. The cost of the actual product would be on you, but any charges from the servicer bringing the product to you would be covered up to that $100 limit. Here’s a quick example.

Let’s say you are enjoying the open road. The windows are down and the music is up. All of a sudden, your hood starts smoking. You signal, pull over safely, and realize this isn’t something you can fix on your own. You call Say’s Roadside Service number at 1-866-296-8145 and they send a tow truck. The ride ends up costing $80, but because your Roadside Assistance covers up to $100 per incident, it’s completely covered. You don’t have to pay a penny. You’re happy, we’re happy, and you are back to cruising in no time.

What’s not covered with Roadside Assistance?

Roadside Assistance should be used outside of claims-related tows and emergencies. This means any time there is an accident that damages your car, another car, or property, you should always file a claim. In those cases, your tow would be handled through the claims process if you have purchased the coverage required for that accident. Some other common costs not covered under Roadside Assistance include:

  • The cost of parts (like replacement keys, water, fuel, fluids, or lubricants)
  • Labor related to installing parts
  • Tire repair or replacement
  • Any services or repairs done by a repair shop
  • Towing because of illegal parking, impoundment, or anything violating the law

Say’s relationship with Agero

Agero is the company that manages Say’s Roadside Assistance calls. They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and will quickly get a tow truck or servicer dispatched to you when you need it. When you call Say’s Roadside Service number you will be talking with an Agero representative, not a Say Insurance employee. Rest assured knowing they are committed to the same level of customer service excellence you expect from Say. We work closely together to ensure you are taken care of in a courteous and timely manner.

Just be sure to call Agero for any roadside needs. In the unlikely event that Agero is closed or unreachable and you called another provider; you may be entitled to reimbursement by Agero. See policy endorsement for details.

Roadside Assistance and your insurance premium

Some may be hesitant to use a service like Roadside Assistance because they worry about the impact on their insurance premiums. When a situation arises that calls for Roadside Assistance, you’re likely already a bit stressed so Say wants to keep you from stressing even more over whether or not to call. That’s why we will never punish you for utilizing this important coverage. Using your roadside assistance multiple times will not affect your premium.

However, there are some exclusions that could apply in certain situations. For example, we often get asked if getting your car towed affects your insurance premium. The good news: it typically does not. However, if you get towed twice in a short amount of time for the same issue and service determined the second tow was due to lack of routine maintenance or repairs, you may run into issues.
